There is no way at all to level up realistically.This gets even worse when things open up at Ecruteak - the Trainers are leveled so that you can go any way you want. For instance, if you go to Olivine/Cianwood, you will be battling level 15-19 Pokémon all the way up to your Gym Battles with level 30-35.. and then when you head back to Mahogany Town, you are still battling level 17 Pokémon.There are also no Trainers at all in Victory Road, making it really hard to get those last levels ready for the severe spike with Lance. There is nowhere to train in the game.The Pokémon disparity is insulting. I get it in GS before they really knew what they were doing with sequels, but it should have been addressed in HGSS. Bugsy not having an Ariados, Ledian, Heracross is just weird. Instead he has... My writing stylings lack an internal consistency as I run mostly on vibes and sometimes end up imitating stylistic choices from other authors, for better or worse. Some of the more skilled writers have picked up on my grammar tics which has terrified me since that means they know me better than I know myself. The book was a framing device I had in mind as I wanted to see if I could write a low key macguffin which fits stylistically in what the PMD world allows without it literally being a case of "the one ring to rule them all" as that shit typically falls into and it'd act against the narrative agency of Clover as a whole. Its definitely easier to write for pre-existing characters the other anons have made than to write for a new pair of identities that I'm not 100% solid with. This of course comes after needing to rethink what I was initially doing character wise.I'm glad you enjoyed it despite it being kinda disconcerting in parts as I still try to find how I can actually parse my ideas into text without sounding completely unhinged. That is difficult for me sometimes, to be honest.

I never had the "problem" of being over leveled in any of the games I ever played. If my opponents were ever lower leveled than me, I saw it as a good opportunity to start using other party members. I would even often get bored of my current party, or if I saw something on a new route I liked I would just pick it up and start using it instead. I sometimes boxed my starter after fully evolving it after the 5th gym or so. Not necessarily anything against my starter, but simply because by that point I had found a lot of other pokemon that I wanted to try using instead. Is your starter really the only guy you encountered in your whole journey that you liked? I feel like you are being deliberately disingenuous. I mean sure, the games are easy no matter what. But that's a good thing, because it allows you to use just about anything and be successful. I'm not trying to larp as a speedrunner.
