You can invoke the multiverse the explain most of the little differences between games and between gens. In fact, you kind of have to do that at this point. There's a picture in the abandoned Thrifty Megamart that clearly shows Pikachu riding on Ash, a character who clearly exists in a different universe from the games. You could dismiss it by saying "oh well the pokemon anime must exist in-universe to the games" but it would make more sense for it to be a bit of multiversal flotsam, since this is the region where the ultra wormholes are popping up and stuff is leaking out from other worlds.

With the advent of variable heights and weights, do you think Pokemon should add more simulationist elements and allow for the modification of the weight stat? For instance, consuming berries or meals could raise the stat, while training could lower it over time. I feel like this would make for an interesting mechanic, as there are a number of moves that change based on weight variations that could be given new life if you could alter the weight of Pokemon. Perhaps even speed could be modified by weight factors, so high weight Pokemon would move slower but have higher HP than lighter Pokemon. What do you think? What other elements could a more fleshed out Pokemon weight stat modify in game?
